#126 Wed (10/26/22) - suspense and horror
I recently watched a few suspense thrillers on NetFlix; The Sinner, (Seasons 1 and 2) starring Jessica Biel and Bill Pullman, Behind Her Eyes, The Watcher.
I was reminded of Limetown because of Jessica Biel, and The Tall Man, but also Archive 81.
Contemplating watching the new Ryan Murphy Dahlmer drama, but still on the fence.
Thinking about Ryan Murphy's American Horror Story, of which I was a pretty consistent viewer until about season 5. I really liked Season 1 - Murder House, although it had some problems. I watched all of the next three seasons - Asylum, Coven and Freak Show. I struggled with season 5 - Hotel, and didn't finished it. I watched most of Roanoke I think, but skipped season 7-10 and now season 11, NYC is dropping. Should I go back and revisit them?
I recently rewatched Channel Zero, season 2, No End House (2017), and thought about going back to Butcher's Block and The Dream Door again.
Also, was reminded that True Detective season 1, was excellent, and it is time for a rewatch. Season 2 was a bomb, but season 3 might be worth considering. Season 4 in production, set at an Alaskan research station.
Tried Guillermo del Toro's Cabinet of Curiosities (Episode 5 Pickman's Model) last night. So bad, I could barely finish watching it. No one gets Lovecraft right. The tone, casting, music, acting, dialogue, effects, monsters, and writing were are singularly terrible. Everyone put on an atrocious Boston accent which was the most horrific thing about the whole show.
Cadaver (2020) on Netflix was an excellent horror movie!
A Classic Horror Story (Italy, 2021) was just so-so.
Koko-di, Koko-da (Sweden-Denmark, 2019)
Haxan (1922) was surprising for 1922, but lacked the punch I was expecting.
